Chicken Coop Dyeworks produces hand dyed variegated, tonal and speckled yarns in wools, silks and other animal fiber blends.  Because I want to bring the best sensory experience to my customers, I concentrate on sourcing quality animal fibers and creating yarns that are vibrant and saturated with color.  I strive to create a shopping experience that is organic but in a way that the urban dweller typically shops.

Along with yarn, we carry bath bombs, lavender sachets and other accoutrements that enhance the fiber experience.

Our products are African market baskets, a fair trade item from Ghana.  The baskets are sturdy, well made and are great for needlework projects.  Yarn and thread do not hang up on them.   They are strong enough to be used as true market baskets, gardening baskets or holders for magazines.  The best use is for needlework and craft projects.

We specialize in colorful fingering/sock weight yarn and offer two colorway lines: Holly and Ivy.  Holly’s colors are inspired by her experiences and places she’s lived/visited, while Ivy’s colors are emotionally and experimentally driven. It’s wonderful to offer a wide range of colorways and dye styles.  Both of us are also knitwear designers and sell kits for those designs.  We find such joy in being a part of our fellow crafters’ and artisans’ fiber stories!

I raise an critically endangered heritage breed of Gulf Coast Sheep. Their wool is a treat to spin as there are only about 2000 sheep left. Their wool makes wonderful socks, scarfs, sweaters. I will have raw and washed fleeces, roving, and yarn.
